My name is Dieke Verkruijssen, and with pleasure, I did my master thesis at Wetlands International. My studies are on ‘Water science and management’ and my interest in Building with Nature for coastal protection.

For 8 months I dived into the subject of identifying erosion hotspots and nature based solutions for eroding tropical mud coasts.

I created a global map with an overview of erosion hotspots along tropical mud coasts. I also identified techniques of mud recharge and seagrass restoration which have been observed to mitigate erosion.
